Hello Jay, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Would setting your web browser to have it's homepage as Google Search when it opens, then adding your web browser to run at startup work for this?

Startup Items - Manage in Windows 8

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

I have already tried that. It works that way but I get a page asking me. "Do I want to keep opening this page with Google Chrome. I click Yes and it opens. It never sets the answer as a default. Can't get a correct answer from MS engineers
I am trying to do it thru the Task Scheduler.

Do you have Chrome set as your default web browser with all associations set to it?
That sounds like Chrome asking if you want to keep using it as the default browser to open that page with.

At the moment, the restarting - selecting Seven from boot menu, restart again is a huge PITA. Anyone know of a Win8 based way of Restart directly into seven, essentially skipping the double restart. I prefer the old method of select - boot. Not select - restart, boot.

Google Search Provider in Browsers & Mail
Anyone else noticed that IE10 doesn't allow Google to be installed as a Search Provider (despite it being arguably the world's most well-used search engine)?
