hello

i bought a laptop which runs on windows 8 since Feb 2013, and since then i have trouble making my jpg display or pdf display to occupy 50% of the screen, so i can open another different file, such as world doc at the same time that i am viewing the pdf. however, i have no idea how to do that. back to windows 7 all you need to do is put the mouse at the edge of a display window, and you can expand or minimize it to any size you want.

thank you

Change program defaults from the Photos app to the Photo Viewer, Adobe Reader over the Reader app.

As of right now, the Windows 8 can't actually do 50/50 snap, YET. Later this fall, an update for Windows 8 will be coming down the pipeline that refines and adds onto the UI, part of which is a 50/50 adjustable app snap, which is what you'd want.

thank you for your advise, after changing the app to photo viewer, i now can resize the display window when i am viewing images. however, as for pdf files, my default setting is adobe reader, and i don't have other program besides the note pad and the word doc 2010. so basically when i open an pdf file, it will occupy and entire screen no matter what i do?

The program that you are using is Reader which is a Metro App that came with Windows 8. You need to download the desktop version of Adobe Reader from Adobe - Adobe Reader download - All versions. Make sure before you click Download button to uncheck Yes, install McAfee Security Scan Plus - optional (0.9 MB). After the installation, you will have the real desktop Adobe Acrobat Reader which you can set as your default program.
