Can't log in after installing Windows 8 Pro.

I reinstalled Windows 8 overnight over Windows 7. When it restarts the account that shows up is administrator. When I click on it a message come up that says, "Your account has been disabled. Please see your system administrator." Any ideas? Thanks!

Did you actually do an upgrade install from 7 to 8, or a clean install replacing 7 with 8? It sounds like another failed upgrade install.

When you see "administrator," is there an arrow to the left that leads to any other account you can use? Are your data backed up? If yes, then, at this point, I would reinstall Win8 cleanly.

Clean Install - Windows 8 (general reference) and

Clean Install with Windows 8 Upgrade (if need to use the refresh procedure to activate Windows 8 after reinstalling)

Check this long thread out: HELP! Stuck at automatic repair loop... WONT BOOT. Problem is not same as yours, but it deals partially with the use of ubuntu to rescue data from an inaccessible drive.

    Upgrade.
OK, I was afraid you were going to say that. It looks like something went wrong during the upgrade process. I also suggest starting over and doing a clean install. If you have files on that PC that you need to recover, one option is to slave that drive in another PC. Then just copy them to another drive. You may have to take ownership of some folders to gain access.
