Solved Windows 8 Freezing

Hey Guys, I have had Windows 8 since it came out and a little while after I started having issues with it not waking up/randomly freezing. I reinstalled 8 and for a while I have not had any trouble but now I am having issues again.

Basically the computer randomly freezes... but not really. So certain things don't work like opening or closing applications but the cursor can still be moved. Eventually most things won't work but again the cursor is still moveable. Then again tonight it happened when I got home from work. This is the same problem as before. My computer was left on and locked and when I returned the logon is missing but my cursor is there and moveable.

I have been trying to fix this since the last time it occurred and still cannot find why this is happening. I have the latest drivers, ran scans with Bitdefender and Malwarebytes, checked the event log but nothing shows up from the time I left to the time I got home. I've attached a picture showing the screen frozen with just the cursor and no username/password on the screen.

So anyone have any ideas?

Temporary uninstall Bitdefender Internet Security to see if the problem goes away.

Gather the evidence...

It's hard to pinpoint the source of such a generic issue, the easiest thing you can do is rule things out one by one.
Remove devices (as in pull them out, unplug them).
Try safe mode (search the forum if you don't know how).
Uninstall programs that like to run in the background and/or at windows startup, including anit-malware stuff.

Or just give up before even trying and "refresh" the PC, or even completely reset it. (What I do after a couple of days with no satisfaction) Again, search the forum if you don't know how to do those two things.

I will uninstall Bitdefender and see how that goes. You're right on the thinking there since the problem didn't start until after that was installed.

Just an updated this may be solved. I have not had any problems since uninstalling Bitdefender.
