Hey I have this problem. Puts "-shortcut" on every shortcut I make.... renaming them is such a waste of time. I tried the solution above but to no avail.

Hello Zack, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Did you restart explorer or the computer afterwards to apply?

I don't have that "link" value under Explorer key. I'm using Windows 8.1 Pro x64. Also all info online shows this exact approach for Windows 7, but I can't find how to do this for Windows 8.1 (maybe it did work for Win 8)

Hello voldermarz, and welcome to Eight Forums.

The tutorial above also works for Windows 8.1 as well. If you like, you could use OPTION ONE to do it automatically for you.

Oh, right, it works. I was adding link value of 1e000000 instead of all zeros. Thanks!
