Hi there
Just wondering if there's a central thread we can use for discussions of "Leaked blue builds" rather than have them all over the place.

NO LINKS or Sources of where the builds are obtained from though just observations, build numbers, errors / defects found etc.

We did all this stuff over at W7 during the "Pre-release".

Seems to me people being people will be naturally curious and of course hunt these leaks down-- and in some cases I rather suspect Ms probably uses these too as an "Unofficial" testing platforms as users out there are likely to have a much broader range of hardware and applications than could ever be replicated in a Lab.

Cheers
jimbo

I agree, we have WAY too many Blue threads in the News forum and several in the General Discussion. I propose such a central forum/thread for those who are playing with it currently to report back and discuss.

Good idea. Interesting thread now and future. I'm not yet pumped about Blue. It seems too soon to go through "it all again." But, actually, I didn't get around to Win8 until actual upgrade time. All the OEM's may be out of business by the time Blue is RTM anyway. :p

Does that actually work? I once tried copying and pasting over a WindowsApps folder from WITHIN the WindowsApps folder in Program Files. It didn't work...

Do you have to copy the WHOLE folder over?

Do you have to copy the WHOLE folder over?

Yes, replace the whole WinStore folder by RTM one. Doing that will make all the apps that you had previously installed in RTM become ready to install in Blue (All Apps >> Not installed on this computer).

I once tried copying and pasting over a WindowsApps folder from WITHIN the WindowsApps folder in Program Files

I'm not porting the installed apps, just Windows Store that's not functional in Blue.

One interesting phenomena. I decided to go the whole monty and install as a dual boot. I reinstated my "favourites" folder from my backup. I have found that using the favourites, or any other "personal" under username, empties the folder in the alternative OS (8.1or 8)

Metro Search Panel works better in build 9369 !

Here's how to enable that:

Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SearchPane]
"NewSearchPane"=dword:00000001
"NewFilesSearch"=dword:00000001

Hi there
I've heard there's the possibility of a 94XX build or even a 95XX build leaking into the Wild soon. -- Links are of course not allowed as per Forum rules but it's presumably allowed to say if anyone has found and installed one yet.

So waiting for the next "Leak" especially as I've read Start button is likely to be back PLUS BOOT directly to desktop - althowh WHEN these will be implemented is anyone's guess.

Cheers
jimbo

Well that's the first freaking build with a new wallpaper by default!

I was wondering this today if Microsoft has something up their sleeves for 8.1 because the alpha builds that were leaked about two years ago this time needed a hack to enabled things like File Explorer's Ribbon and the new Task Manager. No one as of yet has shown that there is something really "hidden" other than Photosynth and the metro File Explorer.
