    Credentials Manager

I hope this is the right place. Somehow my Amazon ( remember password ) login got saved wrong. I could type in the correct password and get in. I went to the Credentials manger and tried to straiten it out. When I click on show password, It ask me for password. No mater what I typed in, it just kept asking me for password. Is it the password for the site or what? I have never set up a password for Credentials Manager. I'm confused.

I removed the entry, went to the site with the correct password and saved again. I still don't know which password its asking for.

    Hi Clint,

Take what I say with a grain of salt because I have no experience with the credentials manager; however, when I tried to set up the service, it stated I have no administrative account that requires a password (which means I can't use it I guess). Anyway, is it possible that the password it is looking for is actually your login/admin account password? Just a thought. I'll keep following this thread so I can see the final fix. Good luck.

PS - I'm also wondering if your result would be different if you tried to make the changes through the IE10 interface... probably not.

Hey guys . . . go here for what you probably need; I didn't check it out yet, but will later:

Internet Explorer 11 Stored Passwords - View and Remove

BTW, if you have Windows 8.1, I'm pretty sure you have IE 11, since it comes with 8.1.

I never did get it to work in Windows 8. It's looking for the windows log in password. I never had a log in password set up. I guess that's why it wouldn't work. When I did a clean install with Windows 8.1, I did set a password and it works now.

So how safe is it to use this. I have Norton Tool Bar with IDSafe which is a password manager but they are forcing users to use their online vault instead of a local vault. If the vault in IE is really safe I may give it a try. I want my passwords on my local system, no some hackable cloud.

Didn't they get hacked last year? And for very many passwords you have to use their online vault which I will NOT do.
