Solved Access boot menu?

I am trying to access the boot menu or Setup on a Gateway NE56R31u laptop. Searches have said it could be accessed by pressing Esc or F10 at the Gateway boot screen, but I've been unable to make that happen. I've done this hundreds of times on other computers, so I know the technique and the timing that has worked in the past. I've also tried Del key, Fn + F10, F8. Any ideas how to make this happen?

Thanks

I guess I should have mentioned this is a non booting computer - I am trying to get it to boot from a recovery disk. So I can't access Windows right now.

Thanks

I never did get the computer to the boot menu, but I got lucky and the computer booted once to Windows 8. So I initiated the recovery from within Windows. Thanks

Hi Buddy,

Check the status of boot menu by pressing F2 and Enable Boot menu on F12.
Hope this helps!
