Solved How do I move my boot partition to the left?

I was dual booting with Windows 7 and I deleted that partition. It is to my understanding that I would need to move the Windows 8 partition to the left before extending it. Do I need to use a CD, or can I do it from a program? Thank you.

Disk management can't do it but the mini tool partition wizard can. It's what I used in that same situation.

I think you will need a program and lots of luck! I did pretty much the same thing and almost went nuts trying to get my disk partition back for Windows 8. I wish I could give you a specific detail of how I finally got it done, but it was so much trial and error on my part that I am not really sure how I really got it done. I can tell you I used EasUS Partition Manager 9.2.1 Home Edition (free) to finally reclaim the partition for Windows 8. You might look at their website - wish I could help you more, I know how frustrating this can be. I think they have some tutorials with scenarios that might help.

And I would need to use the CD version right? As moving the partition with a program while using the partition wouldn't work? My, this seems scary. Hope nothing goes wrong

Partition Wizard has a "Enhanced Data Protecting Mode" that protects your data during the operation. See this article

It lets you move the partition left or right. Using the CD is probably the safest but if I remember correctly even if you use the installed version it goes into a standalone mode to due its thing. Use Macrium Free to image your partition as a backup before starting.
Partition Wizard is a really nice program and I have used it a few times with no problems.

I had a brain fart but corrected my post. Partition Magic was a great program. I still have a copy of PM 8.0 in the file cabinet.
