A buzzing noise like that is often a grounding problem.

Does the noise change and fluctuate when the computer is working/hard drive seeking?

Check your playback devices and disable/mute what's not needed. Unusual to have to do that, but best to check.

Cheap sound cards (integrated) I have experienced in my life all share the same imperfection of producing a high pitched static sound that changes with CPU/HDD activity, grounding doesn't really help at all. It seems the better the headphones or speakers, the worse the sound because they amplify it so well. Lo-fi speakers don't usually reproduce the sound so it's not heard.

Turning the system volume up to full and using volume controls on the headphones works well as a work around, if you have headphones that can do that. Simple signal to noise ratio stuff.

Otherwise, and I hope not, a new quality dedicated sound hard may be required.

Geez, all these hardware types. Try changing the audio frequency setting in the volume mixer/speaker/advanced setting.

Are you on a laptop connected via an AC power cord? If so, can you try without the power connected and let me know if you still get the buzz.

I need some basics. Are the speakers powered speakers? Are they plugged into the wall? Into a DC adapter? If so, does the buzzing happen when the speakers are not connected to the computer?
As someone else said, can you plug the headphones into the computer directly? Are the headphones buds with a 3.5 mm jack? Are the headphones made for a computer input with surround sound or just stereo?

    Hi there

Try just touching a wire attached to CASE of the equipment to a water or radiator pipe -- just touch it first -- if there's a tiny spark you've got a problem somewhere with the wiring -- maybe the polarity of the TWO pin mains plug (if you are in a place with two pin AC sockets) is the wrong way round. Insert the plug the mains plug the other way around and repeat the test. If it still gives a little spark then you've got some faulty electronics somewhere.

Another possibility is other gear causing interference -- for example Phone chargers, Microwaves, Vacuum cleaners or even some electric motors / fans in the computer itself.

    Cheers
