I didn't bother with the Metro Mail, I downloaded the Windows Essentials so I got Windows Live Mail and after opening that just pinned it to the desktop taskbar, I just have to click that and it opens. I've also got the desktop IE10 as default rather than the Metro app IE10.

    Hi there
I wasn't trying to have a go at you and maybe the OP should have said what mail app he was using -- however for NON metro apps the way I have outlined should work for any non metro app.

Sometimes on Forums replies can sound like harsh criticism -- that's not the intention of most people normally -- the people who are really rude and offensive get thrown off the Forums pretty quickly. So don't take it too seriously.

There are people though who deliberately try and wind others up -- used to be called TROLLS but we don't seem to hear that term much nowadays. They don't last long either fortunately.

    Cheers

this post is like... "I have a Ford car that's having this problem."

and then someone responding, "I don't bother with Ford cars. I have a Toyota and I use it instead of Fords."

There are other discussions here about icons that move by themselves. Maybe the additional details I provide will help point to a solution. I have 64-bit Windows 8.1 Update 1. I divide my desktop icons into two groups. One group of icons is on the left side of my monitor and the other group...
I like W8 interface alot, but certain things don't seem to work. Like normally, you could go into the Start menu, and copy/move/edit/delete icons. But In W8, I don't see any way of doing this. The only options they give you is to pin. So the "All Programs" Menu in W8 is the Apps menu. And...

Hi All, I have this very annoying problem, relating to windows 8.1 where upon start up the icons rearrange towards the top right hand side the screen. It may happen from when I re-start the PC from standby, or if the screen saver has been activated, or even possibly upon a cold reboot. I...
Hello- I have a Windows 8 tablet/ultrabook (Lenovo Yoga). I primarily use the desktop to operate and have many icons and shortcuts arranged to facilitate the use of my computer. When I use my PC in tablet mode, sometimes I rotate the screen to read PDFs, certain webpages, etc. When I rotate...
Strange problem - the 'move to' icon (after rt click) is greyed out. If I start Windows live mail and view emails ,I can use this Move to .So, partial solution, but under each email there are four identical entries with identical times of receipt in each of the email addresses and today's mails...
Hi all, I just upgraded to Windows 8. On 7 I had the taskbar on the top (yes I use linux...) and a dock on the bottom, so I did this on Win8. However now the hand cursor doesn't appear when I move my mouse to the top of the screen - it works fine when I have the taskbar on any other side of the...
