Hello,
Background: Windows 8, HP destop, 4 cores Intel
Suddenly few days ago the link for SENDTO DESKTOP evaporated, along with its icon (from imageres: a bluish monitor screen)
So I followed the this procedures both manually and using the ready fix Zip folder provided foer Win7.
By using the unzipped folder I restored the link in the context menu (not its icon however). I was happy: so i started to use the link; noway, I tried to send several files to the desktop, no success. The shortcuts were not delivered: they simply disappeared. To make it short: I found all the shortcuts that I tried to create...in the unzipped FOLDER that I copied in Username\roaming\microsoft\windows\sendto\desktop. I thought than to have made a mistake copying the FOLDER and not the its FILE. I did it and the link even disappeared from the context menu. I think that is the FOLDER to be copied, not the FILE: if you use a file you cannot associate its icon. By using the Folder I was able to display the icon in the context menu.
Any suggestion? Many thanks.
