In other words they for pirated software. The links were official links for Windows 7 and official links are what I am looking for in Windows 8.

You can do all the work that you like in Windows 8 too and learn the Windows 8 OS as a bonus if you install a tiny shareware utility that shall put the start button back in the Windows 8 Desktop interface.

Perhaps there is something about 8 which attracts those with the problems you describe.

Since the CP was seemingly better then the RP I suspect the retail is realizing more bugs that need to be addressed by MS! 8 so far has been unlike 7 in more ways then not! Even the 7 beta was more seemless with things in beta form then the finished 8 is? It shows 7 was the OS right out of the box you could run while MS got sloppy again with 8!

As far as some people raving how wonderful 8 is while too many are dissatisfied with how MS tore up the desktop OS you have to weigh the balances correctly by looking at the actual facts that some accuse others of simply bashing 8 rather then taking a look themselves. MS is selling a new line of Tablets and wanted the next version to look the same.

It's that simple! It didn't matter if the desktop OS got trashed in the process. "We'll make up for it the next time!" seems to be the MS mentality for promoting Surface over their main Desktop OS. And the tablet gui simply doesn't work well on the desktop platform even if some people do not want to hear actual facts!

As I said when first having a look at the CP last year this one is going to see all kinds and mixes of opinions!

To start with I dislike the pre-installed business but all my efforts to get a Windows 8 DVD to do a clean install failed and I don't want to spend a fortune to buy a DVD separately. The laptop doesn't even have a sticker with the Product Key on the bottom. I had to extract it using a third party program.

My question is that from where can I download a Microsoft approved Windows 8 installation DVD, like it could be done for Windows 7 and use the existing Product Key for activation.

To my knowledge, there is no place from where you can legally download a Windows 8 .iso. There was a thread at MDL, but it looks like they shut this down. It looks like they really want to lock you in with what they are selling you.

Well, there is, kind of. They keep the link hidden well, for completely unknown reasons.

The key you own will give you the version you are entitled to, and of course, you also have to be careful, it will choose between x86 and x86-64 based on the computer you run it on...

Oh, don't thank me, it's in the tutorials here.

That setup application will also be very kind and will offer to open the Windows ISO burner and burn the disc right away, if you so choose.

    Look before you leap.

There are lots of aspects to consider.

    Age of computer.

    Age of OS and Version.

    32 bit or 64 bit.

Win 8 regular or Win 8 Pro.

    WMC

If the upgrade encounters problems there are several reasons.
