Refreshing PC via USB

Hi guys, I was a part of seven forums for awhile.

I'm trying to troubleshoot my PC. Hopefully I'll figure this out soon. I mean hell I'm A+ certified I feel ashamed even asking for help but..

Lately I've been having a lot of issues with corrupted files, and things not working in 8. IE, I can't get into the "change PC settings" screen instead it prompts me that files are corrupted and I should pop in my installation disk and refresh my settings. However I installed using a USB flash drive and have no DVD drive in my rig. So it won't let me refresh. I tried mounting the image I also tried following one of the guides here for refreshing it via USB with no avail. So instead I booted it straight up from the USB installation flash drive and chose troubleshoot my PC and tried refreshing it from there. It error'd out and gave me this "refresh your pc this option is not supported on the operating system you've selected"

My OS is currently installed on an SSD. Intel 520 series one. I've had issues with this drive in the past. Randomly my LoL won't launch and it'll say that it's been corrupted and i've had to reinstall.

I've tried doing sfc /scannow and it DOES find corrupted files and attempts to fix them, however after I reboot nothing has changed.

Any suggestions/input would be MUCH appreciated!

thanks.

the worst case scenario is that I re-install the OS. However I really wouldn't like to because I have quite a few very heavy games installed that will take awhile to reinstall (gw2/battlefield 3/etc)

Guess i'm just gonna have to re-install 8. Unless anybody has any better ideas. I'll wait like like 30 more minutes then i'm calling it done.

I've installed, refreshed, and reset from a USB thumb drive. It didn't fix my issue but I had no problem actually doing it that way. I don't know why it didn't work for you though.
