Search is available in the desktop explorer but if you want to search or list files using the metro system in a location other than what is indexed by default, you will have to add locations and index them. (indexing options in the control panel)

    Does everyone know about indexing?

The important thing to remember when searching your files on Modern UI search is that you need to tell Windows what to search.

Searching apps (Win + Q) shows by default all apps and programs installed on your computer, but searching settings (Win + W) or files (Win + F) show a blank screen and need a search term. If you want a complete list of your files, type *.* to file search:

Important to remember is also that whereas Explorer Search searches all locations, indexed and non-indexed, the Modern UI Search for files searches only your personal files under your user folder, and Libraries.
