Read the HTML files in the zip folder about email & CMD prompt.
The cmd html is good for people with poor eyesight.

Here is a good unzipper if you need one--

I'm not being nasty or insulting elbmek (i.e. this is NOT a personal attack), but when someone asks for help, that's not a particularly helpful 'answer'.

Even if you question someone's motives, it would have been more helpful to, at the same time, chip in with a solution.

As for motives, here's an example: My 87yr old mother in-law has particular difficulty with 'mouse accuracy'. So trying to hit a tiny portion of the screen, when you can't even see what you're aiming at, can be quite difficult!

For her, I just pointed out that you could hit the 'start' button and 'D' on the keyboard together. Now she's happy.

no offence taken; its the way a person reads what you write. As for poor eyesight, personalise, display, large text?

Ok, understood. Looks like I misread. Glad to hear you took this the right way. When I said she cannot 'see', I was referring to the fact that the desktop 'icon' was invisible. I'm aware of all the other stuff. For my mother in-law it's more a case of hand-eye coordination. She's only just started using her PC in the last few months and I was only using her as an example of a 'motive'.

I am 64 this year. I have been making web sites and running forum since early days when win 3.1.1 was just leaving us, and the internet was empty compared with today. I help kids and grown ups alike with 'how to' - the elderly on my private Army forum have not used pc's all that much, then realised they had to learn to 'keep up' - that's where I come in and give them lessons in postings, images, cutting and pasting - things that to us are simple but only because we have experience. Its the same with eyesight. When I type a post on facebook, its so small I can hardly see it. not yet figured how to enlarge it, if I can at all. Eyesight amongst the young(er) element is taken for granted but with us old fogies, its a real problem. I have a 24 inch flat screen but its still awkward sometimes.

Hold the Ctrl key & roll the mouse wheel Forward to make text bigger on Facebook.
See picture of example from my Facebook account:

Hold Ctrl key & roll it backwards to make text smaller.

    Hi there
    "Seemples"

Hold CTRL on the keyboard and move with the MOUSE (Hold down the LEFT mouse button) the icon from the desktop to the taskbar while keeping the CTRL button pressed. (AFIK this method worked in W7 too).

(To create a desktop short cut simply in windows explorer find the .exe file and right mouse click ==>send to desktop (create short cut).

C'mon Peeps --what's up with the Forum these days -- a lot of insults seem to get flying around -- let's get back to proper "Netiquette".

Just think back to Yesterdays horrific events at the Boston Marathon to realize what people get up to once respect for others whatever their views starts breaking down. (I've run in that marathon myself a few times and normally it's one of the greatest days out in the year --people from ALL over the world are in town totally enjoying themselves in one of the USA's greatest cities).

    Cheers

I don't quite have your years (at 54) but it's a long time since I was assembly programming on Commodor Pets. The ones with cassette drives built in to the keyboard - just like those you see on the control panel on the Battlestar Galactica TV series. Though I have to admit, I never had a BBC Micro or an Amstrad. I too, went through windows 3.1 and 3.11. In fact, I've still got an old laptop in the garage with 3.11 on it! That's if the battery hasn't melted down! And yes, I'm also the family 'teacher' though it helps that I live 200 miles from most of them.

btw. I've yet to discover how to add a signature to my forum posts. I do wear glasses but didn't think my eyes were that bad. Can you offer any pointers?
