Storage Pool Question

I currently have 4 3tb hard drives in a storage pool using windows and it is nearly full. Its much like a raid 5 array, 3 drives worth of storage with the four drives. I want to add a singe 3 tb drive to this array but windows 8 is telling me i need to add 3 drives.

My question: can I get away with only adding one 3 tb drive without losing my current data? or do i need to add 3 drives as windows is indicating?

What type of parity are you using? Mirrored, parity, etc.

I'm pretty sure if it says you have to add 3 drives, it won't work to just add one drive..unless you are ok with moving your data elsewhere and creating a new pool.

Its parity, I just don't want to have to buy more drives lol, gets expensive I'm just afraid to add the single drive to the existing parity of drives for fear of losing my data.
