Desktop tile missing and can't find it in All Apps

Okay, so I don't have this problem anymore. Well, last night, I had noticed that there was no desktop tile and if I typed "desktop" on the start screen there was no app for it Also, "Change PC Settings" wasn't starting. My guess is that it did that because I had a really hard time uninstalling a program so I had to try going by means of registry editing. So I ended up refreshing my computer (from the installation disc since PC settings wasn't working ) Now everything is back to normal. So all I want to know is how I can prevent this from happening again.

Hi there. I always use and advise to run http://www.eightforums.com/showthread.php?t=3047 at least three times before attempting other means.

Is restore points configured on? I believe that is off by default.

Hello Joseph,

A good way would be to create a restore point before doing anything that may mess Windows 8 up. This way you could just do a system restore to a restore point dated before the action to undo it.
