    Choose your keyboard layout

When I power up my HP Envy laptop with Windows 8 I'm asked to "Choose your keyboard layout" every time. Is there a way to stop this happening? Control Panel set for English (US).

Hello BocalLiobian, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Do you have a System Repair Disc (DVD) inserted, or Recovery Drive (USB) connected?

That's the same screen you would normally see if you had booted from either of them.

Sorry, I was just asking to check if you did, and remove if you did since that what's you normally see with them.

    FIXED!
The Windows books say that you can power off the laptop without having to go through the shutdown process. You can but if you do you have to "Choose your keyboard layout" when you next power on. If you use the shutdown process then you do not need to "Choose your keyboard layout" when you power on again.

I wanted to point out that I had this issue using the keyboard, but I was able to click "see more keyboard layouts" with my trackpad/mouse. Derp! Regardless, that is a Microsoft flaw for the record books, and it's a thick book!
