Solved Missing ^ symbol on On-screen keyboard

The On-screen keyboard in Windows 8 seems to be missing the ^ symbol, otherwise known as the caret. On most keyboards its found with shift+6. But in Windows 8, that is the one symbol on the number key row that is left out. Its a necessary key especially when you need to represent an exponent in Microsoft excel. As it is, I see no way to create an exponent in Excel on a tablet, unless you have a physical keyboard attached. Can someone help me?

Hello DS812,

The On-Screen Keyboard should have the ^ symbol here in the screenshot below. Could you post a screenshot of yours to see what the issue may be if it's not here?

If you like, the Touch Keyboard from the taskbar toolbars menu also has the ^ symbol. When you open the Touch Keyboard, click/tap on the &123 key and circled right arrow key above it to see it.

Hope this helps, :)

I found the problem. Thanks Electrotune1200 for pointing me to it. My keyboard region was correct but I had one of the options under "Change PC Settings" ... "General" set incorrectly. "Make the standard keyboard layout available" was turned off. What a strange option to have.

Thanks,

Medab1, you are right, the caret was there all along I just didn't notice the little right-arrow-in-a-circle on the &123 screen. Thanks.

I figured the tiny arrow was for displaying more options. :)
