Hi all,

I just looked at the disk manager, and I see this:

I am not sure what those 19 gb are.. and is there a way to get them back ? If I right click on it only gives me an option to delete..

I's not unallocated, It's just hidden. You can assign a Drive letter to it and you can use it. As you said it's only give you the option to delete then you might have to use diskpart from elevated command to assign a drive letter for it. However, I also notice that you installed Windows without the 350MB reserved partition and it's OK, some people like it that way & as long as you don't use Bitlocker.

^ thank you! I upgraded from 7, and then couple of drivers were acting up so I did a "refresh", so it never asked if I want the reserved 350mb partition or not.. but I don't plan on using bitlocker so its okay I guess.

I don't see the 19gb partition in the command prompt for some reason..

Also, I just got rid of mine Windows.old folder thanks to this:

http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/2527-windows-old-folder-delete-windows-8-a.html

But while I was doing that I noticed that there are 6 gb of "temporary Windows installation files" and I was wondering if those are safe to delete as well ? I know that I can't touch the ESD ones since those are used for "refresh, etc"..

Got to it, but I think I am missing a command... it won't let me assign a letter to it. I am guessing I have to convert that partition into a volume first ?

If you mark the OEM Recovery Partition ACTIVE, the OEM Recovery will boot not Windows 8.
My bad and Thanks for pointing it out, I didn't think it was a recovery partition. Usually the recovery partition is located after the Windows OS partition. In that case OP needs to delete the partition then re-create it.
