Can't delete file in print que

I need help deleting a file in my print que. It says it's deleting the file but nothing happens and other files sent to the printer will not print. I haven't found much help that is specific to Windows 8 64 bit with an internet search.

Hello David, and welcome to Eight Forums.

You might see if using OPTION TWO in the tutorial below to delete the print job in the printer spooler queue may help. If not, the using OPTION ONE to completely reset it may.

    Hope this helps,

Thanks for that link to clear the print spooler queue. A couple of friends of mine both running Windows 8.1 managed to lock up their HP printers. Both had one document that I could not delete. I even tried removing and re-installing the device but the HP printer would not install fully. As soon as I used that Windows batch file, the printer installed and everything worked again.

I don't know how they managed to get their system into that state, but I would think that if you ask for a print job to be deleted, the system should handle it. It seems to be an old problem and I wonder why it has not been fixed?
