Hey, I was installing windows 8 over my windows 7 drive and it got too the first time it was booting, setting it up and all, it didnt even let me get too the color selection and username and all, It got stuck on a part where it was a black loading screen with the windows 8 logo, I turned my computer off and turned it back on and I booted into windows 8, It said "installation was interuppted, please reboot computer and restart the download" I did not buy the physical copy of windows 8, I bought a direct upgrade from the microsoft website, unfortunately I can not use the iso as im on linux at the moment, on the very same computer, I need a way to reinstall windows because I have never had physical copys of said cds. or some solution too this whole ordeal.

I suggest using the option for them to call you back so you don't waste time being put on hold.

Probably wait till Monday & call during regular business hours.
Usually 9 AM to 5 PM.

In the meantime someone here will probably respond.
Hang in there & keep checking back.

Brink might respond.
He's good.
He knows a lot of stuff.:)

You'll need to use your ISO to burn a DVD on another computer.

And, did you get an email from MS containing a product key. If yes and your ISO is bad, you can download another ISO using a Windows computer with the same "bitness" as yours. See OPTION 1 here: Windows 8 Upgrade ISO - Download or Create. You can use the new one, of course, to burn an installation DVD, hopefully, on the same substitute computer.

To be maybe too precise, you'd need a single-layer DVD. The installation package is too large to fit on a CD.

Actually, you don't need either. If you have an .iso, you can use it to make a bootable USB flash drive. You'd need a 4GB or larger flash drive.

These tutorials are very clearly written:

http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/18309-windows-8-upgrade-iso-download-create.html?filter[2]=Installation and Setup

(I don't think that you can do the download from Linux, though.)

http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/15458-uefi-bootable-usb-flash-drive-create-windows.html?filter[2]=Installation and Setup

If you can't afford a couple of blank DVDs or a USB flash drive, I won't ask where you got the $40 for the Windows 8 upgrade.
