Windows Defender Icon remains white ???

    Windows 8.1 Pro x64

    Windows Defender Icon remains white ???


    I have tried Malwarebytes no viruses,SFC Scan no errors, two icon repair tools, System Restore( i do not have restore points yes stupid i know) and this is what my icon still looks like in Control Panel ? any ideas kind of nit picky but i like my system to remain "perfect" as i can..I can use the program no problem so its pretty lol

    What does it look like in the folder (Program Files or program files (x86) It's the one called MSAsCui.exe

    Sometimes icons get messed up. Sometimes they fix themselves. I wouldn't worry about it. You could try running, sfc /scannow (may need to run multiple times--say 3); might help.

    Ok got that now. In your second clip Windows Defender is indicated by the Castle Icon and the file MSASCui.

    yea def did that a few times i know all about icon cache issues and usually a refresh works but in this case it didn't its the only messed up icon lol

    You could try turning Defender off and on in the Administrator menu of the program. Also try and disable the program in the services, and re enable.

    This is the key to the Defender icon. For curiosity, you could have a look and see if it is present?

hi all. Changing the win defender icon I got 4 available options: 28151 just wondering if that means there's some way too see all of them in the taskbar changing in real time depending on the pc status or the program running thanks ;)

Any way to add the Windows Defender icon to the System area of the Desktop TaskBar like Microsoft Security Essentials used to do? I miss it for some reason.
Is there any way to get the Windows Defender icon displayed in the Taskbar Notification area? In Win 7 the MSE icon is displayed in the notification area. I like the info it shows in Win 7 MSE: Animation when scanning A different color for out of date definitions or last scan run.
