All: Check out this fast startup problem and theog's explanation: Dual Boot Problem. I am trying to find out if the OP is under UEFI.

    And, while not related to
fast startup, I really feel bad for Wynona on the above thread. I have advised her to be very conservative with respect to her drive and with respect to advice. If you really know what you are doing with data recovery, then maybe you could help.

Will it be possible to boot Windows 8 from a GPT partition using BIOS (not UEFI)? I'll be using the 64bit version. Technically, I know it's possible as I'm doing it with FreeBSD, many Linux distros etc. Using hybrid MBR/GPT, I've read others have Win7 booting off GPT partitons as all. I'd...
Hi all... I read somewhere that Windows 8.x doesn't really close desktop apps but sends them to the background (unlike previous Windows versions) and not all apps give an "X" or close and a clean remove from RAM option... which stops me in my tracks a little - on my older Windows laptop I have...
Question: How would you approach this migration? I just bought a copy of Acronis True Image 2013 with Plus Pack. It appears that this is all I need as True Image will install the new motherboard drivers as part of the migration process. But do I stay with MBR or move to GPT? Presently both...
On my computer there is a pre-installed Windows 8 which works fine for UEFI boot (Secure boot not necessary). Now when I switch in UEFI setup at boot time the UEFI mode into the CSM (BIOS) mode and restart then Windows 8 is not starting any more. As far as I find out an UEFI-based Windows...
So I want to create a bootable USB for win8 x64. I'v got the ISO. Do I need to follow this: https://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/2227-create-bootable-usb-dvd-windows-8-iso.html or this?: https://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/15458-uefi-bootable-usb-flash-drive-create-windows.html My...
Just a thought...... Currently we build around 80,000 pc's a year here, with a fairly low attach rate of Nvidia Cards (Geforce G210, Quadro 600 and Quadro 2000D). I was just speaking to one of my Taiwanese colleagues who said their new G210 VGA Cards with a UEFI Bios will not work on Windows 7...
I have three P8Z77-V Deluxe mobos. I went to check the software and firmware and found a NEW dropdown for Win8 64 bit today. There was also a new UEFI BIOS out at the same time with no description of what changed. Check to see if your mobo manufacturer is putting out new stuff...
