New build keeps crashing when waking from sleep...

So I have searched for answers, updated drivers the best I can and disabled certain things (such as setting the SSD to never sleep) yet I still have intermittent problems when waking my new build from sleep overnight.

I find it simply wakes and the network connection icon says disconnected and the whole thing is froze before it just powers down, loosing all the things I left open.

Here is a zip from win 8 file collector logs: download

(i7 pc, based on an Asus P8Z77-V LX with Intel SSD..)

First time I have built a PC and been stuck so any help will be most appreciated!

Here is the log entry for restart just before extracting the logs:

Not sure where to go from there as it froze without error??

Probably won't sound right, but try turning fast startup off: Fast Startup - Turn On or Off in Windows 8.

Arghh, it did it again, just disabled fast startup to try that, but could any of these be the culprit??

Not sure. Could just be indicators that fast startup and hybrid shutdown have been disabled. Did you see these messages before turning fast startup off?

nope, this is what I did a few weeks back mate. Will see how I get on with fast start up off but you think this can effect standby mode?

Oh, I thought you got those results after turning fast startup off. By all means, try turning it off. You can always turn it back on. Given what the tutorial says, I don't think standby will be effected.

So this is very frustrating, it's never stopped doing this when putting it into standby (overnight sometimes). I have updated the BIOS and drivers where I can and run a full windows memory diagnostic on startup and it finds no issues. I have moved the pagefile to the normal HDD not the SSD and it still does it.

No minidump, no idea what keeps causing this.

Might try changing the SSD controller to RAID rather than AHCI to see if that helps. HAs this arisen on these forums in recent times?

If you run the tool in Brink's thread here and post the results, even if there are no minidumps included, it will be most helpful:

Delete C:\Windows\System32\drivers\PxHlpa64.sys

Open Regedit. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services

Find that above driver's subkey and delete it. Reboot.

Your CD/DVD drive will not work, but that is very simple to fix and will do that next.

Update all the stuff from ASUS site, in Downloads/Utilities, even if the Windows 7 is latest on offer and its newer than what you have. Check it out.

Uninstall RealNetworks Download Resolver service.

You can test the machine in the meantime. If issues persist, uninstall Epson Printer software to test.

No problem. You're welcome.

OK I will do the first step removing PxHlpa64.sys and restarting and see if that solves it first then try the rest bit by bit! Happy to Paypal you a few quid for a beer or two if we do this... Cheers.

Well it's still doing it but have just manually updated a few more intel chipset drivers after doing the AHCI controller already (the chipset setup program seems to not install them even though it says finished) to see if that works and un-installed real player. If it continues I'll delete the Epson service!

I have noticed the following 2 device drivers along with a load of Microsoft drivers (including storage spaces Controller) are still dated 2006 and don't seem to have an update?

  • Intel PCI Bridge - 244E
  • Intel 82802 Firmware Hub

PCI Bridge might be iAMT driver or ME (Management Engine) driver from Intel.com. Intel Chipset INF Update Utility does not install storage drivers. They have to be downloaded separately.

You could figure it out exactly by right clicking on it in Device Manager, Properties, Details tab, change dropdown to say "Hardware Ids." Then Google for the device id or look at PCI Vendor and Device Lists

You could always update the driver manually, if it is found to be part of chipset installer instead, using Device Manager.

It's probably best you check on your ASUS drivers and that they've been updated in the manner shown. Most people don't follow that well, even though I specify "Windows 7, if need be" or similar. (Just sayin', heh.)

PCI bridge does not seem to update, hardware IDs are as follows but I can't find anything on that link:

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_244E&SUBSYS_84CA1043&REV_C4
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_244E&SUBSYS_84CA1043
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_244E&CC_060401
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_244E&CC_0604

I have read it could be a problem with the PSU? Having swapped the RAM over I'll be trying a new PSU I guess if deleting the Epson service does not work.
