OK, I've searched the net and win 8 forums for how to do this. I can't find anything except how to change colors via the 'personalization' screen for desktop background etc.
You used to be able to change the color of the actual program window background's color but I can't figure it out. Is this not possible anymore?

I tried myself.
I had to tweak the registry colors.
Will add picture shortly...

Thanks Medab1. I'll give that a shot. What a pain tho. It'd be nice to just pick colors that you can see on the screen while you do it.

There are a few 3rd party programs out there that will do that. I've not tried them.

If you go to "Personalization" (under the Settings charm) and select one of the "High Contrast Modes" you can then choose what color you want for each thing -- window background, desktop background, text, window borders, and so on. But in those modes everything is solid colors only -- you can't have a desktop picture.

Thanks for that info. I'm trying to tweak it now.

Here is a quote from Stardock Techinal Support I got after asking about this very issue:

"Currently Start8, Decor8, Fences 2, Multiplicity 2, Tiles, IconPackager, IconDeveloper ,and WindowFX 5 are designed to work with Windows 8.
WindowBlinds and DeskScapes should be ready in early 2013.
Other applications may or may not work. At this time though, they are not supported.

We are updating more of our software as time goes on so keep an eye on our forums for more details."

So,sometime soon, Stardock will upgrade WindowBlinds & DeskScapes.
I hope so !
:)

Ha, I'm already using start 8 and boot to the desktop with it. Great little app. I'll have to check out their others. Thanks
