Documenting my new PC (re)build... From Q6600 to i7-3770k

If I'm not working on anyone else's PC's this weekend, I'll put Win8 on my main PC and see how it goes. I may just get another 120GB SSD, load Win8 on that and then keep the SSD with Win7 in case I need to go back to it, for some reason. I DO NOT want to dual boot again as I was not impressed with that solution. This will be the 1st time I've tried Win8 on this hardware as the last time I tried it I still had my old PC (which is my test PC now)...

My Intel chipset, USB and SATA drivers should all work with Win8, the rest of my drivers are all Win8 versions. i have quite a bit of time and effort involved in my Win7 configuration, so it's a big decision to install Win8! I have to pick a weekend where I have lots of patience and not any other sick PC's to work on so I can focus my attention to the install/config.

What is the difference between DZ77GA-70K and DZ77GAL-70K?
As for drivers, i think all drivers are Windows 8 ready based on here: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Sear...ard+DZ77GA-70K

It's confusing but the DZ77GA-70K and the DZ77GAL-70K are EXACTLY the same (even marked the same on the board) but my board (the "GAL" ) didn't come with the WIFI module (made by MSI) or the Bluetooth adapter, so I got my own! My board was $114.50 and the cheapest I can find the "other" version of my board is $180. Both boards are identical, use the same drivers, the only difference is the bundled hardware that I didn't get with mine. Intel really made this confusing, didn't they?

A few pics from tonight's "tweaking"

I cleaned up things a little more, took the light cable ties off the cooler tubes and they stay in place without it, put a hokey "RAM cooler" on my RAM (because I had it) and switched some SATA cables out... The Scythe 200mm fan only came in blue, so "pimped out" it is! The fans are very effective , quiet and I don't see the LED's because I sit on the other side of the case. Anyway, the PC is running cool and reliable at 4.5GHz and I'm extremely happy with the way it turned out. If all goes well, I'll install Win8 on it this weekend.

Firstly, I'm sorry for the title sounding like a hot shot scam. So I overclocked my system to 4.5 GHz, disabling only Turbo Boost. I also changed a couple of voltages. Before, I disabled not only Turbo Boost but also power saving features like C3/C6, EIST. At that time, Task manager always...
