Documenting my new PC (re)build... From Q6600 to i7-3770k

It's like buying a used car or truck researching the history. One really never knows what one has. Change all the fluids, tune it up, and hope for the best.

Rover, that's a very good question. Most of the people I build for do not want Win8 and they specifically ask for Win7. For the few that went out and bought a new PC that came with Win8, after installing Classic Shell, they are fine after that. The changes really hit them hard, which is strange because they barely know their way around Win7, so they are certainly not "experts" who are complaining that Win8 is different from Win7. They seem to be reacting to the bad press that Win8 has received.... These are the same people who say "Vista sucks" and when I press them for specifics, they simply cannot provide any and usually reply with "some computer guy told me that"...Sheep...and the Mac people are worse!

Thanks, Rover! As long as Win7 is available to buy, these people will use it, much like the WinXP people do today...

Nice rig......What a shame to put 7 on it. To each their own, though.

    4.534GHz and counting!

I've got my i7-3770k running at 4.534GHz and it just passed the Intel Burn Test at the very high settings. It hit 190 degrees F at 100% CPU load, and that's reasonable. Here's the screenshot... I'm very happy to easily get an "extra" 1GHz out of this CPU!

That seems to be meant for heavy usage then. You've also enabled VT-x in BIOS I see.

i7 3770K @5.67 GHz. Daily. in Drivers & Hardware
Firstly, I'm sorry for the title sounding like a hot shot scam. So I overclocked my system to 4.5 GHz, disabling only Turbo Boost. I also changed a couple of voltages. Before, I disabled not only Turbo Boost but also power saving features like C3/C6, EIST. At that time, Task manager always...
