I checked the PC this AM and it didn't lock up overnight, so the voltage settings (increase) must have helped. I'm at 4.5GHz with resting temps of 31 degrees C.

Thanks! I'm still "experimenting" with settings, but once I get things dialed in, I'll copy all BIOS settings so I can recreate them if necessary. I'll button up the PC once all the little pieces arrive and I get them installed. I'm playing the drums at church this weekend, so I won't have very much free time for the PC until a week from now...

Let's do that Art! I did some comparison checks on the internet before bying it and I found out that this Intel Cooler really gives you great value for the money it costs.

Great posts you make about the overclocking. Very smart indeed to catalog al the settings before and after changing. That way you can later evaluate and choose the best settings.

Have fun playing the drums at church and good luck with your project!! I'll be reading the posts.

Rover, yes, the Intel-rebranded Asetek cooler is a great value, is quiet and cools very well! I bought the Antec-branded cooler (same cooler without the glowing Intel logo) for the video production PC at our church. I'll install it next Mon-Tues.

Overclocking requires a methodical approach and patience as you want to make one change at a time to determine what the best settings are for your system. You can take other's advice, but ultimately, your PC will be different as no two people have exactly the same hardware and environment. Afer doing some online research, my CPU is performing as expected and with the voltage increases I applied, the 40 degree delta in temps is normal and expected...

Firstly, I'm sorry for the title sounding like a hot shot scam. So I overclocked my system to 4.5 GHz, disabling only Turbo Boost. I also changed a couple of voltages. Before, I disabled not only Turbo Boost but also power saving features like C3/C6, EIST. At that time, Task manager always...
