Boot image did not authenticate ughhhhhh

Well I'm starting a new thread in hopes that someone that has had this problem can either tell me how to fix it or tell me it's not able to be fixed.

I have a 4 day old hp g7 with windows 8. Everything worked fine until an update happened. When it restarted it said boot image did not authenticate. After futile attempts to correct I did a reset. It took like 6-7 hours to FINALLY complete and when it did the logon screen was up but it said other user. I've tried signing in with the original username and password and nothing. I then tried to sign in with an e-mail account and even though it is a valid microsoft account and password again nothing. HELP PLEASE!!!

It's flaky. There are four options to log in: Password, pin number, photo and automatic log in.

You need to go to the control panel and open users then tinker around with the settings.

I just set mine to automatic log in.

Better make the recommended repair disc and reset/recovery discs post haste. And jot down your user names and passwords.

Worst case scenario if you get locked out you can always order recovery discs from HP. Around $17. But if you make your own set - you're set!

Yeah I can't get into anything, not the control panel, nothing because I can't sign in.

4 days old. It has to be under warranty. Call HP tech support. I own many HP's and have for years. HP is really GOOD. It's HP's responsibility including the software as OEM.

But if you messed up with your password there is a very high probability that you are up the creek without a paddle.

There is a work around but it is complicated and often doesn't work.

HP should send you recovery discs.

When I set up my LAN with 3 computers the user names and passwords just sent me Bonkers! For the router, for the network adapters, for the computers, for this account, for that account.

More than once my log in password wouldn't work for me. Seems Win 8 had a mind of it's own. I just kept tinkering. When I clicked on the log in name and password I got different results sometimes. I also forgot my passwords and user names from day to day so I kept meticulous notes.

The passwords in many cases need a minimum of 8 characters, they are CASE SENSITIVE and often require a digit. No offbeat's such as @#$%^&*()?. Try different possible combinations. Log off. restart. Go slowly and BE SURE you are typing in the characters that you think you are. I have even found that sometimes my present computer will type a string of 4 or 5 of the same character apparently because the speed is set too fast.

    Good luck. Let us know.
