    Lost disk drive

2 week old new tosihiba L855S5383 with OEM win 8 OS. I wanted a install disk so I purchased 8 Pro disk from MS. After that upgrade installed I went to burn a recovery disk But am getting a Devise error 19. Tried driver uninstall and registery fix deleting both high and low filters and a couple of reg. fix programs. Still no contact to disk drive. My question if I do a full re-install will the disk be found so I can load the 8 pro disk and install?

Cripes! Talk about doing things the hard way!

You'd might as well re-install now or at least refresh after them registry "fixes" you've done.

Not that DVD burner drives need 3rd party drivers, you'd might as well check the dev-man to see if it's actually working. Doing a fresh OS install on a shop bought PC usually required you install all sorts of drivers. Too bad you didn't just upgrade, would have been easier.

So... Put your new newly bought Windows installation disk in, boot it up and reinstall.

After that, you may want to search this forum for topics on Windows System Backup vs. Recovery disks cos there's a mighty difference.

Thanks for reply JohnOfe. I did just upgrade from 8 to 8 pro. I tried to refresh but it wanted the install disk to proceed I can't do a re install because the dvd player isn't working. Toshiba said to send it back and they'll fix it, I only have to pay for shipping both ways and be with out that computer for a couple of weeks.
