How to disable UEFI nd Secure Boot on this Notebook?
Whats the difference anyway? I used MBR for years nd it was allways stable and secure. I dont need 100+ partitions just one for the system and the second for backup.
It's still a lot of work...

I'm not gonna get involved in this because it's risky and you can loose all data.
    Make backups first.

As I said you'll need to wipe everything out on that disk in order to switch to MBR. Not recommended and I don't even like the idea, I know what it is to loose data and waste time on poor managed partitions.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Mystere so all those ppl making fun of it on cryptocat re just nuts? Even if it s that secure as an the AES+Serpent+Twofish, it s still cost money nd i don t ave money atm.

Like noted above i don t ave important data on it, it s brand new just the lincense is important to me. Nvm i ll contact HP bout it, go from there on.

    Thanx everyone

    You're welcome.

I hope you didn't ignored my posts here about the risks and the work that needs to be done in order to get MBR going.

    Good luck.

Your Windows 8 key # is in the BIOS. No sticker with OEM installs.

Most people who claim to know a lot about cryptography generally don't. It's a complex subject. So yeah, dudes hanging out in some forum making fun of things probably are just nuts.

Still, you don't have to worry about your key. It's in the bios. When you reinstall, there Is no need (or ability) to re-enter the key, it just works.

I respect his choice. It's not a matter of win or lose.
Even if it's more difficult to get running, MBR is possible on pre-installed default GPT machines.
(if you know how to format drives and install OSes then you can go further than this)

It's possible, so long as the laptop's bios contains a CSM (compatibility service module, or legacy bios module). It's not a requirement for UEFI, so I would not assume that there will always be one, although I have never seen one without yet.
