Is it possible to skip the first screen in 8?

It's not like I turn on the computer to find out what time it is, or to admire that graphic. It's just a minor annoyance, only takes a press on enter, but I'd like to garbage the thing.

Thanks med, but I do want to keep the password protection. The only screen I want to skip is the first one that shows the time in large digits, and some kind of tower. Not sure if everyone sees this and of course I can't get a screen capture since I haven't even got to the log in yet.

I would like to be able to skip this first screen and go straight to the log in.

I gotta say, sometimes it truly amazes me the lengths people go to save a keystroke or half a second. They'll spend hours on "fixing" something that adds up to 5 minutes of wasted time over 5 years. Not exactly a good return on time investment.

I mean, when I sit down at my compute the first thing I do is tap a key to turn on the monitor anyways.

I'm not aware of any workaround. This is meant to be your new sexy screensaver. A simple key press will make it go away, I don't understand why it's so vital you skip it.

And that tower? That's the Seattle Space Needle... Microsoft's headquartered in the Seattle area.

    Thanks,

I don't need to tap a key to turn on a monitor. I can't remember that I ever did with other computers, but maybe.

And I don't understand how 'It's just a minor annoyance' gets translated into 'it's so vital.'

There are a lot of preferences that can be set and I enjoy poking around to see if I can do anything about them. Often enough I'll learn something else too. Just trying to find my way around this new system.

Note that this only works on Pro and Enterprise. There is no group policy editor in Windows 8 standard.

No. Windows 8 standard does not have Group Policy Editor *AT ALL*. It is not even on the computer.
