Did you run the auto repair at least 3 times as stated in the tutorial ?

Did you click advanced options and try to find restore points ?

I had the same issue with auto repair telling me it could not repair. I had to clean reinstall Win8, hope you fair better.

Yeah I think I may need to do a clean install as well. Does that mean I just put in a Windows 8 CD and boot that?
    I don't have a Windows 8 CD though unfortunately...
But would doing a clean install get rid of Fedora?

If automatic repair isn't working, then you can boot into the system repair disk you created and do the refresh your system option. Follow the instructions in the tutorial below. This option will preserve your user files.

    Refresh Windows 8

Another option using your repair disk which will put your Windows 8 back to the way it was when you first installed it is the reset option. You will lose any user files that you have created, so you will need to back them up. You can do this from Ubuntu before hand.

    Reset Windows 8

Personally, I would try the refresh option first and do a reset only if it doesn't work.

Yeah I tried using the recovery options from the CD earlier but it wouldn't work. Both the reset and the refresh. I think it's because I partitioned my C drive because it would say something along the lines of "can't use reset because drive is partitioned"
Now I can't even boot form the system recovery CD.

Would I fare better if I just put in a windows 8 CD?

Does your HDD have a separate partition for re-installing Windows 8 back to factory settings? If so, you could restore your computer that way. If you do have a factory recovery partition, you should be able to access when you first start up your computer, by tapping a certain key, like the f2, before the OS starts to load. The reason I ask is because you say you don't have a Windows 8 installation DVD. Computer manufacturers are putting these restore partitions on the HDD instead of a physical disk. Otherwise you could contact the maker of your computer and see if they would ship you out a DVD. I did that for my HP laptop with Window 7.

Well, I can get a copy of it through my college for free but if I did that, would my laptop be how it was during factory settings? I recall having certain Lenovo programs and my harddrive was partitioned like 8 times.

And nope...pressing f12 doesn't bring up any recovery boot option. Only Fedora and Windows 8(which won't boot up anyway)

I am sorry that your situation has gone so downhill. Do you know what sort of disc you can get free? Upgrade disc? Do you get a product key? If yes, then doing so would be the beginning of a good plan. Post back if you get the disc. Be sure and get all info available on the disc.

In order to have the Lenovo programs you will probably have to call them and order the factory recovery disks for your model laptop. As I mentioned before, the factory recovery partition on my HP laptop didn't work either, so I called HP and they sent me the disks needed to restore my laptop to factory settings. If you plan to get the Windows 8 DVD from your school, then I would find out if your laptop has a UEFI secure boot setup. If it does then you should read this tutorial and also check out some of the other links it contains, before you proceed with reinstallation.
UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) - Install Windows 8 with

Note: When you ran the system recovery option from the repair disk, did you run it 3 separate times? This is important, because it sometimes takes that many times to repair your boot sector. If you didn't then I would try again, before reinstalling Windows 8.

Thanks for all the help you guys! I'll download and burn the WIndows 8 64 bit ISO and burn it onto a CD and do the clean install as you guys suggested. Thanks for the EUFI link, that'll be really helpful. I'll do the clean install this weekend as I still need the linux OS for classes. I'll let you guys know how it goes

Good luck. And, you are welcome. Post back if you need help. Your ISO may lack UEFI support. If so, then post back if you have questions.
