    Windows 8 Recovery Problem

    Hello everyone;

I just bought Asus UX31A-R4005H (with Windows 8). Unfortunately Asus doesn't provide any application to restore Windows 8 back to factory conditions. So i need some advices about recovery whole hard drive partitions back to factory settings.

Firstly i need to create a set of OEM factory recovery discs/usb flash.

    1. I'm planning to create a system recovery drive (usb flash) with Windows 8 but i wonder if this usb flash will recover whole hdd back to factory conditions? If yes is it enough to use Windows 8 "create a recovery drive" option?

    2. How could i create an original OEM factory recovery usb flash with 3rd party application?

    Thank you..

The answer was what I feared- currently there are no Asus-provided recovery tools to create a disk image for the G75VW with Windows 8. This was very surprising to me but right now this is the official word from Asus.

Will you need to use the Windows system image.

2.Select "Yes" to repartition the drives or "No" to keep existing partitions. For a clean install, the drives should be repartitioned.

4.Click Reset to begin the process.
    5.The reset/recovery process takes approximately 90 minutes.

I would look for a 3rd party Partitioning,Backup & Cloning software, which fully supports Windows 8, uEFI, GPT & Secure Boot.
    Which is signed by Microsoft.

The only 3rd party software that I know of, that fully supports Windows 8 is PARAGON 12.

Paragon 12 has support for Windows 8 uEFI, GPT & Secure Boot.

Thank you for you answer, it's very helpful.

I want to learn which method would you advice me to create recovery drive? Windows 8 default method or 3rd party app?

    # I found a tutorial on Youtube from Acer is about restore Windows with usb flash drive. I wonder if this method will take back whole hard drive to factory conditions? (For example if i delete all partitions, or i buy a new hard drive then if i use this method, will it take back the new hard drive to factory settings? Like original OEM Recovery disks? thank you

Windows system backup is fine and pretty hard to get wrong. Do what it tells and suggests and you're set.

What's the point of using a 3rd party program when the built in feature does the job perfectly?

I recommend using an external hard drive as the backup destination, the file is about 50GB. And burn the recovery disk that it suggests that you do at the end so that you can restore the system image during boot.

I bought a Samsung recently and a sw update pop up would always come up. Today it said I blue screened (which hasn't happened) and said to click here to resolve the issue. When I did, it reset everything and I lost everything off my laptop and had to start over. Why did this happen? Is it a Samsung thing? Should I ignore it if this happens again?

Reset will return your Samsung PC, back to the first day you had your new PC.

We always assume you have made your Recovery Disks using the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Media Creator app the first day you had your new PC.
