    Desktop notifications while in metro?

Is there a way to allow desktop pop-ups to display in Metro that are desktop related. For example if I'm in Metro and my firewall (ESET) has a pop-up asking me to approve/deny a connection it displays to the desktop and so I can sometimes not realise it's there.

Not that I'm aware of. Although if you find an app hanging, you can move the cursor up to the very top left corner of the screen and it will show you a tiny real-time preview of the desktop, where you should be able to see if the firewall alert message has come up (yeah I know, it's not ideal). If it has, you should be able to click in the very top left corner to switch between metro and desktop.
