Solved Really ugly fonts at native resolution...

Anyone else experience this? I saw this occurring on my dad's computer and now it's happening on my computer at work.

When I run Windows 8 in the native 1600x900 resolution of this monitor, text all over the place becomes very fuzzy. I had to drop it to 1440x900 to have smooth text.

Any way to fix this? One of my Windows 8 PCs at home runs at 1600x900 and the text on it looks just fine. Does it have something to do with the video driver?

Here's a screenshot of MSN's homepage in IE.

I'm not sure you can see it on your PC as I don't know how things render from computer to computer but the text looks very blurry and at times jumbles together at this resolution.

Back in Windows 7 this effect would happen if I had ClearType on certain displays so I'd just disable it but in 8 I can't turn it off even by disabling ClearType (again, I had to lower the resolution to make the text appear less eye-straining to read).

As far as I can tell the entire OS is affected by the issue. I can't update my video drivers because the graphics chipset on this computer is too old.

This must not be the system in your specs, can you give the general specs of this system?
Brand or custom built, CPU, motherboard, RAM, and of coarse graphics card.

If you can't update your graphics driver or upgrade with a new graphics card, your options are very few.

Well, i have read about this problem, it was caused by changed fonts rendering, radeon graphics users have a chance to fix it by changing graphics options, but it works not for everyone, and intel graphics users cant do anything special, just try to play with cleartype settings or try to change fonts size.

Ah, so that's how it is.

Unfortunate. Very well then (this PC uses Intel integrated HD graphics, just like my dad's PC).

Odd...I looked at my computer's resolution and for some reason it's at 1600x900 but...the ugly effect is gone.

Was there an update recently?
