Hidden files - auto disable, restore auto enable?!

    Hello,
I use Windows 8 Pro and I have very strange problem.

I enabled display hidden and system files, but system auto-disable its... I make it about three times, always with the same result. I don't know what causes this problem, I can't reproduce its (it isn't after reboot).

Also I have similar problem with system restore.
I disabled it, but system turned it on again.

WTF?! Does my system better know what I need?!
I apologize for the tone, but it's really frustrating...

    Hello lukasamd,

    That's odd behavior.

You might consider resetting Windows 8.

Your system has malware attacked. Try to boot in safe mode and run task manager, under startup tab, you might see something there.

EDIT: or try this Download iReset 1.3 Free - A tool to reset system/hidden files/folders so you can view/access them normally - Softpedia

It isn't first time. Last time I reinstalled Windows 8 and problem still exists.

Where did you get your copy of Windows 8 from?

Sorry it isn't. The reason it reset to hide hidden files so it can hide itself.

    It isn't possible.
I use strong AV, custom ruleset firewall and HIPS.
There is also enabled EMET and NoSciprt in browser.

I made scans using Kingsoft AV, Hitman Pro and Malwarebytes.
    System is clean.

    EDIT:
I think it's going on after install updates by WU, but I'm not sure.

The only reason I know of for hidden files to hide themselves is malware trying to prevent you from finding and deleting it.

It's interesting that your malware scans have turned no results as that behavior is VERY malware oriented.

I would be very cautious and treat the computer as infected. Which means anything mass storage devices you have recently used may also be carrying.

Still... Malwarebytes should have picked it up.

The only advice I have to offer is to strongly suspect malware rather than windows settings.

It seems that, as in W7, you have to make changes to disable auto-assort, so files can be moved to desired position in a folder. Does anyone know if the procedure is the same as W7 please? I know Google will find that but does't say for W8.
