Wonky window stacking

It seems to me that Win 8 doesn't get the ordering of windows correct. I'll open an application and it will end up behind windows explorer or underneath another app. I don't think it's just that Win 8 is different than previous versions requiring some getting used to, rather it actually gets the stacking order wrong making it difficult to do things. There are some windows which I would not have found without Alt-Tab for example.

Anyone else feel this way? Any possible workarounds, eg a setting which allows us to use Windows 7 stacking order?

This is not normal Windows 8 behavior, but I have seen it when using various third party tools that insert themselves into the system. Do you have any start menu replacements, or other kinds of tools installed like that?

Well, those don't seem like they are likely culprits, but i'd uninstall them as a test anyways. If the problem persists, you can reinstall them.
