    Virtualization recommendation ??

Before they close the door the end of the month, I wasted $40 and got a Windows 8 .iso and key. I want to install it in a virtual system - just to keep up with you guys,

In the past I have always used Virtual Box which served me well. But recently I had a lot of problems with the networking in the host system because vBox always seemed to monopolize the IP address.

So I am looking for the best alternative. My system has an i7, 8GB of RAM and a SSD that is half empty. So there should not be any problem from the hardware side. What is important to me is that I can run the virtual system and the host seemlessly side by side.

If you are running Windows 8 in virtual, let me know what you recommend.

Note: I posted this also on the Windows 7 forum.

As far as I know there are two great players on the VM ware market. Virtual Box and VMWare. Considering the fact that you have had some issues with Virtual Box why don't you give VMWare a chance?

Since I'm running Windows 8 I use MS Hyper-V as virtualization tool. Works fine for me

VMWare has always been the product that I have used. Mostly because we use VMWare vSphere at work and staying with VMWare is just consistent. It all works the same.

I vote for VMware. It's worked flawlessly with Windows 8 for me. Hyper-V on the other hand, hasn't been able to let Windows 8 to finish driver installation as it BSODs in a loop.

    VHD?

Have you considered using a VHD?

I ran all of the W8 previews that way (DP, CP, RP and Ent).

You probably know how to create one, but here is the tutorial I used:
Mister Goodcat | Installing Windows 8 Developer Preview as bootable VHD

I was able to choose it when my PC booted up (just like it was actually installed).

I've had no problem running Windows 8 in Hyper-V. Sounds like something might be wrong with your image.

Could be, I was trying to install the Enterprise trial in it one day, the same image I used to install on my PC.
