Print selected text

Just starting to use my new windows 8 getting frustrated!! How can I print selected text in a email or web page without printing the complete email or web page?? When I select the text and select devices and printer (Canon Pixma MX512) I don't get the option of 'print selection' Can anyone Help :cry:

I think it may be printer- or application-specific, and not a Windows problem. In both Opera and Internet Explorer printing a highlighted selection works for me from Windows 8, however the "Selection" option under Page Range in the print dialog box is greyed out in Thunderbird.
