Cannot boot Dvd on Startup

I am in the process of applying for a work from home job. I had to burn an Iso Image onto a DVD so that I can see if my computer meet the system requirements for the job. The DVD is burned successfully but now I cannot get the system to boot to the dvd... it instead just opens Windows 8. I cannot find anything about how to do this on the web. Can anyone help? I have a brand new Toshiba Satellite running Windows 8 which is what I came installed with.

You most like just need to set the boot order in the BIOS to boot to the optical drive 1st and then to the hard drive.

I'm pretty sure I did that as it is the first one listed. But it still doesn't boot the dvd.

what was the content of the iso file ,computer will not boot to the dvd unless the content of the iso file contained autorun or boot info info .
if the iso was just data its not going to boot to the dvd

There should be a bootpartition visible on the disk.

Another trick, and the easiest way, is to change the bootoptions in your BIOS to DVD ONLY. If the DVD is not bootable you get a message like "not able to boot from D:\".

And ofcourse good luck with the job application!

I have found that with Windows 8, I cannot boot certain disks that I could when 7 was installed. It's like they're blocked.

I wonder if it's the same thing that prevents dual booting with linux.

I would double check the Bios is set to have DVD drive as first boot device, then remove the C: hard drive and try again to eliminate the possibility of Win8 preventing it.
