    HELP! I need somebody HELP!

    Hi all,

Here is the problem I have been having consistently... I first started off using vista, upgraded to 7 then 8 and the problem still exist. My desktop will work for a few months, then at aorund 3-6 months into it working fine, suddenly it will not boot up. First it would take a few times to boot up, when it does boot, it freezes around 30secs-5 mins after booting. As time progresses, it gets worse... it will take more and more attempts to boot up and eventually it would not boot at all and I reach the black screen of death.

I can confirm it is not a virus as I have wiped the HDD several times before. Multiple virus scans showed nothing at all.

Has anybody got any ideas as why this would happen every 3-6 months? Please help because I can't really afford a new PC .

    Some specs:
    Windows 8 x86
    Acer G7700 (stock)
    Nvidia 560 Ti

You have a hardware problem either power supply or mother board or it could be something as simple as too much dust on the cpu heat sink. It could be the hard drive.

Out try this, go to the elevated DOS box and type
    BCDboot c:/windows /s c: /l en-us
Where c is oxidase the drive where windows is installed

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I have already cleaned the components and my processor uses liquid cooling. I cannot even get a start up bee

Sounding More like power supply or mother board if you do not get the bios screen. There should be an led on the MB that flashes if there is an error with the memory or video board. You will need to check your documentation for the MB.

It could also be brownouts. You could try getting a UPS and seeing if the problem persists.

Hi, just wondering what a UPS is? If it is the power supply, why would it work perfectly for the first few months after a clean format and then start doing this? I am a bit confused... I already try to install as little as possible.

Also, i just managed to get my computer up and running agian.... all seems to be fine. Its only when i reboot i believe. I sort of fixed it by pulling the plug out completely and waiting a few hours. I know the problem will get worse over time as I have experienced it before.

UPS is a power supply that plugs in to your wall to supply power to your computer when the power goes out it has a battery to do this for a limited time it will also compensate for low power (brown out). The 3 months after install is is not the operation system it is just time to go bad if it was the operation system it would have started when you installed it.

    Hmmm....

Can you describe in more detail what happens over that duration of time?

I'm wondering how general performance of Windows is during this time? Is it slow, laggy, weird? Does it start up after installing a clean copy of Windows and boot fine for a while, then start to degrade and get slow to the point where it takes forever? How many programs do you install? Have you done upgrade installs from vista to 7 to 8 or have they been clean custom installs? If they were custom installs, did you reformat the hard drive? If so, does boot time and responsiveness decrease after using it?
