Most people do not use any of the features in the ultimate or pro editions of windows. They are more or less geared towards business use and most consumers do not need the features. It annoys me that i see windows 7 ultimate on a lot of people's computers that have no business having ultimate it tells me like immediately that it is pirated. End rant

    Hi there
Two uses come immediately to mind that aren't available in "Home Premium" editions which are certainly valuable for HOME users.

    1) Multi Language interfaces. for example I use the Icelandic version of Windows quite a lot -- here for example is my XP PRO VM
The base language is English but the display language pack Icelandic is added. You can't add language packs to versions lower than Professional.

    screen shot enc.

    2) If you need to be able to logon to your HOME machine remotely via RDP( Remote Desktop Connection) -- you can only do this if you have PRO level or higher. You can use RDP to logon to a remote computer FROM your home computer with any version of Windows but if the remote computer doesn't have at least the PRO level of windows you are out of luck.

    Cheers

Most, perhaps. But not all. I use several features of my Ultimate setup, which IS legal.
Please, let's have no more talk of piracy, eh? It is against forum rules.

I do too as per my previous post -- particularly RDP and language packs.
I'm not the only one either.
Some use bitlocker as well --also only available in "higher" versions of Windows.

    I'm also using W8 ENTERPRISE

    Mine is legal from
    a) my Work via Use at Home on my laptop using the company license --they operate a "Use your Own" policy these days

    b) I also have a technet subscription when I want to play around and do all sorts of tests with W8 Enterprise and see if certain software / hardware works with it.

I don't condone these editions in any way whatsoever. (screenshot enc)

All junk now. I might hang them in the trees in the backyard to amuse the birds.
    Wenda.
My trees are already covered with America Online install CDs.
