Using storage pools

I'm really not sure if I understand this corectly. I have two portae hard drives which I keep my music on. Each drive is a copy of the other. I was afraid of losing my back up so I made a back up of my back up. Lol.
With storage pools, can I just have one copy of my music but hook up the two hard drives to the pc and use this "pools" thing?
