Where is MMSYS.CPL in Windows 8?

I am trying to follow some instructions that are telling me to open MMSYS.CPL to alter some audio settings.
Supposedly you can just type this into the command prompt, but it's not working for me.
Is anyone able to tell me where I can find this setting and open it in some alternative fashion?

Go to C drive, Windows, it's in System32 folder, you need to tick Hidden items and extensions in View tab.

By "not working for me" what do you mean? What error are you getting?
And what specific settings are you trying to alter?
