comp booted as new/nothing in start menu

i have a brand new store bought hp g6 laptop running windows 8, it has been running quite well for the last few days. However, today I have come to boot up the comp and it has shown a 'setting up your comp/downloading tiles' screen, basically looking like i was turning it on for the first time.

Now, when i log in to my profile it is completely empty, there is nothing there, when i click on 'all apps' it shows a blank screen also.

my guest account still logs in, and the computer memory suggests all my files are still there, but when i tried to access them through the guest account it lagged and never completed opening the window to show my files.

Any ideas, or should i just throw the whole thing against the wall like ive been dreaming of doing for a while now?

Do you need to get your files back? If not, perhaps your computer came with a system recovery partition or other recovery medium that you could use in returning to factory fresh? See my sig for related thoughts.

    Did you install any programs?

Try using safe mode to troubleshoot it, though.

It may be a long shot. But you might want to try this ==> SFC /SCANNOW Command - Run in Windows 8

I know it did help me when the system was bugging.
