When I start a game, e.g. spider solitaire, it comes up on my left monitor. How can I have the old desktop on the left monitor and something from metro on the right monitor?

to choose what monitor has the start screen and metro, you can either click in the lower left corner of the desired monitor or you can drag the metro app to the monitor that you want with the mouse or your finger. your second monitor will automatically be the desktop monitor.

I don't think you can have metro apps on multiple monitors at the same time. not sure though.

for spider solitaire, are you referring to the Windows 8 version? or the Windows 7 version?

You can do it in several ways. You can grab the top of the app and drag it to the other monitor. You can use the key command WindowsKey+PageUp to move it right (or WinKey+PageDown to move left). You can also use the charms bar on the screen you want it on, and open the start page, and all Metro apps will move.

Thank you. That worked.

I was referring to the Windows 8 version of Spider solitaire which has something to do with Xbox!

Hi there
Why not install "Classic Windows 7 games" on Windows 8. There's posts in this Forum on how to do this -- IMO if you like Spider solitaire etc the Windows 7 versions are much better than the stuff from the app store -- and you don't get pestered about XBOX accounts etc etc. either.

Then the issue of what monitor the game starts on is irrelevant since it starts in Windowed mode --you can make it full screen if you want.

Enc screenshot running spider W7 spider solitaire on windows 8.

All the other games e.g Hearts, Chess titans etc are available too.

Cheers
