Freezing, Stuttering, and Crashing

Other than a few minor hiccups, the only issue I seem to be having after upgrading to Windows 8 is some freezing and very slow performance. I may right-click something, or open a window, and it might take minutes instead of a fraction of a second. Sometimes, Explorer will crash or freeze. Other times, video/picture thumbnails will not be present, or may take a very long time to show up. Sometimes, I will open a folder, and it will display as if it is empty, even if it is full of files.
My computer is very fast, so I am unsure of what might be causing this. I scanned my drivers for errors, but they seem to be alright.

Thanks in advance for any ideas/suggestions!

Did you upgrade or do a clean install? I had similar issues when I ran in dual-boot mode and everything cleared up after I did a clean install. Check your drivers and be sure they're all up-to-date. Is your PC running hot? Does it always do the same thing or just after it's been running awhile?

It was an upgrade from Windows 7 Pro x64.

Drivers are up to date, and my PC is as cool as a cucumber. It does it freshly restarted or running for days.

Please download Autoruns for Windows and run as admin.
Click on Explorer Tab, uncheck anything that are non Microsoft then try again. If the problem cleared up then one of those Shell Extensions is the cause.

Hi, check the minimum processor state in advanced power options, if they are low, increase it and see whether it resolves the problem.

I would strongly recommend a clean install...worked for me!
